Mindful Trader Commentary For September 27, 2021

Hey Guys,

The market opened pretty close to where it closed on Friday, although overnight it had a pretty big price swing. I still consider it a volatile market environment.

I posted two new futures trades this morning as well as their corresponding stock equivalent trades. I'm trying something new today with the Special Instructions section for these trades. I used that space to indicate a reference "code" for each trade (today one trade was MT1 and one was MT95). Those refer to the respective futures strategies they correspond with (as shown on this page).

Even though I list that information in the Special Instructions section, they are not actually instructions. They're just a point of reference for those who are interested in knowing which exact futures strategies the trades correspond with. You don't have to do anything with that information in order to follow the trade. After posting those trades this morning, I got questions and feedback that helped me see it's a bit confusing to have that information posted specifically in "Special Instructions". I'm going to keep thinking about whether there is a better way for me to share that information for my futures trades.

That KL stock position was fun. It gapped up past my profit target this morning, so my profit exit order got filled but at a higher price than I set it for . That was a nice surprise!

I also closed my CDNS stock position this morning since it reached its time limit. I used a standard market sell order to sell it first thing this morning. That position was near breakeven at the close on Friday but dropped almost halfway back to the stoploss by the opening bell today.

I haven't picked up any new stock or options positions yet this morning. I'm just waiting patiently for new trades to set up. You know me -- I'm never going to force a trade that doesn't meet the back-tested criteria.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
