Mindful Trader Commentary For September 22, 2021

Hi Guys,

The market took another dip late yesterday, then popped back up this morning. It's still all over the place.

There have been no stock or options trades that have set up yet today. PANW from the watch list came really close but didn't quite trigger. I never force trades. I always wait for the market to hand me trades that meet my back-tested trading strategy criteria. Having this patience is, to me, a critical part of reaping the long term potential benefits of this trading approach.

I did make a futures trade today, though. And for those of you who don't trade futures, notice that I also posted the stock equivalent for that trade (using the ticker SPXL). So if you're hungry for trading action, and you're looking specifically for stocks to trade, you can consider following the SPXL trades that I post. They're in the section called "Stock Equivalents for Open Futures Trades" (located on the Live Positions page).

Looking at my current positions, it's a mixed bag. I've got some winners and some losers. Some started out good and then took a turn for the worse (COUP and DKNG) and some started out poorly and got better (NFLX). One thing that this trading approach teaches us again and again: it ain't over til it's over. Our lives might be easier if we don't get wound up in the ebb and flow of each position before it closes. Then it's less of an emotional roller coaster, which in turn might make it easier to trade profitably for the long term.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
