Mindful Trader Commentary For September 19, 2024

Hey Guys,

Yesterday the market couldn't seem to make up its mind how it felt about the interest rate announcement. But overnight, the market surged, which seems like a more clear response to the announcement.

It doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet with volatility, though. There is a fair amount of divergence within the market (not every sector moved in sync with the market), which sometimes is an indicator that things aren't settled yet. Also, for the first few days after an interest rate announcement, the market can exhibit big swings in either direction.

I haven't taken on any new trades yet today. There were stock tickers that showed up on the Triggered List this morning, but my stocks account has limited buying power and didn't have the capacity to take any of them on. So for that account, I'm waiting for one of my existing positions to fall off, or waiting for something to trigger that isn't so "heavy" from a purchasing power perspective.

I have a couple option positions that reached their time limits today. I'll be manually closing those near the end of the trading session today unless they reach their profit targets first.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
