Mindful Trader Commentary For June 14, 2023

Hey Guys,

The market moved a bit higher again today. The S&P 500 is around 4,375 right now.

Today the Fed is making an announcement around 2pm Eastern Time. They will indicate whether or not they are raising interest rates. This could cause volatility in the market in either direction.

If you don't like the thought of the volatility, you can consider closing your positions before the announcement. I personally will hold my positions through the announcement like normal. The back tests didn't involve closing positions for Fed announcements, and since my goal is to honor the back-tested approach, it means I also will not be closing them. I am willing to live with it, however it turns out.

My SCHW options hit their profit target this morning. That was its own volatile roller coaster this morning. They came almost all the way back down to breakeven just after the opening bell, then burst back upward all the way to the profit target about 20 minutes later.

I haven't picked up any new positions yet today. None have triggered so far. But I've got orders open for the tickers at the top of the watch list.

My VRSK stock position earned a dividend overnight. Anyone who owned it as of the close yesterday and into this morning's opening bell will receive the dividend. Most brokerages will automatically credit it to your account within the next several weeks.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
