Hey Guys,
The market got a spike yesterday after Powell made a comment about inflation. The S&P 500 is around 4,155 right now.
First, the normal stuff: I bought shares of CDAY in the main account and options for TRMB in the options account.
I also picked up a futures position for the first time in more than nine months. One thing that's notable about that is that my futures trades only activate when market conditions have favorable characteristics. So if futures trades are triggering, that might be a good sign that the market overall is in a stronger position.
My futures trade is reflected in the main account. It has a separate section that shows the ticker /MES.
Important note: a lot of people have told me in the past that they don't want to trade futures. That's completely ok and I fully support you. What I do is I also post the "stock equivalent" for the futures trade, since the futures ticker I trade is correlated with the S&P 500. So there is another section on the main account page that shows a trade for the ticker SPXL. You can type that in like a stock ticker and buy shares of it. You can consider buying that instead of buying futures if you want.
One other thing I want to mention is that on the Triggered List today, some of you may have noticed PCAR there. I didn't take that trade for two reasons. One is that my main account doesn't have enough available buying power. But even if it did, I wouldn't have taken it because that one just had a stock split. So the price change is an artificial one. It isn't reflective of changes in buying and selling pressure. I think I might add a "Notes" column to the Triggered List so that I can add information like that as soon as I see it so people are aware.
If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
