Hey Guys,
The market is slightly red to start the morning. The S&P 500 is right around 6,100 right now.
My AKAM stock trade got hit hard. It gapped down noticeably overnight and went past my stop loss price, resulting in an oversized loss. That one trade washed away all the other profits I had generated in the account earlier in the week.
It's not an easy pill to swallow when that happens. Data shows us that statistically, outcomes like that are just about guaranteed to happen from time to time. So they've happened before and they'll happen again, no matter how much intelligence goes into our trading decisions. Keeping that in mind helps me tolerate them more easily and lessens the emotional charge I feel when they occur.
I also had some option trades get closed. The option trade for XLV reached its profit target, and the option trades for BIDU and TWLO both reached their time limits and ended up with losses. My win-loss record for the week was 2-2 in that account, but it was still a net loss overall.
I took on some new trades today. In the stocks account, I bought positions for ACN and ODFL. In the options account, I bought options for KR.
If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
