Mindful Trader Commentary For August 17, 2023

Hey Guys,

The market went down again yesterday. The S&P 500 came down to the 4,400 price level, but didn't go below. Maybe that price level will serve as some sort of support. It's around 4,415 right now.

It's been a tough few weeks. What I can tell you from experience is that periods like this have happened before, and they'll happen again. It doesn't mean they're not tough, but it helps sometimes to zoom out your perspective at times like this.

Some of my best win streaks have come right after a period of losses. Things went from seeming terrible to being all rainbows and butterflies. I'm not saying that's about to happen here. There is real risk involved, and no one can say for sure what will happen next. What I'm saying is that if you stick with trading long enough, you'll see that nothing lasts forever, and for me that knowledge helps me stay grounded through periods of losses.

I manually closed out my ODFL stock position this morning since it reached its time limit. That one barely squeezed out a profit. My RH stock position hit its stop loss yesterday, and my APO options got closed yesterday for a partial loss.

I haven't picked up any new positions yet today. Nothing from the watch list has triggered.

I have some options positions that reached their time limits today. I'll be manually closing those near the end of the trading session today if they don't reach their profit targets first.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
