Mindful Trader Commentary For April 20, 2022

Hey Guys,

Yesterday in my daily email I said it would be interesting to see whether the market would break through the ceiling of the range it had been in. It ended up doing exactly that.

In conjunction with that, I nearly cleared the decks in my main account by locking in profits. I had five stock positions reach profit targets. I had two others reach their time limits and lock in a profit. Today offered a nice payout after a couple weeks of turmoil. On a lot of these positions, we basically followed the "buy low, sell high" approach.

It might be worth taking a minute to look back at some of the thoughts and feelings that came up over the last couple weeks, and notice how things turned out in the end. If we're spending a lot of time and energy worrying about the potential outcome of our trades, that might be a waste. You just never know how things are going to turn out, and either way, we have no control over what the market does. It might be helpful to let this experience sink in, and maybe it will help deepen the realization that we don't have to grip tightly on to every twist and turn of the market.

I did pick up a couple new positions in the low-priced account today. I bought BHP and EXEL.

If you have any questions or feedback, I'd love to hear from you.
